My focus the past year has been developing a plan "B." Plan "B" is for what the heck to do with the last decade before I “statistically” retire. It is getting more and more apparent that my company will try to put me out to pasture sooner than later. One by one I have watched many older folks get pushed out and replaced with new models. 2008 will prove to be a very tough year for many of us in the big corporate world. I don’t want to be looking for another corporate job if I can help it.
Do you have a Plan "B"?
I started by writing a Personal Mission Statement:
Personal Mission Statement
To live with total clarity and focus on the one and only purpose I have left in life: to help every freethinker on earth, (including myself and my family) to become healthier, wealthier, wiser, and have a lot of fun doing it. (Short and Sweet)
At heart I am a writer and a speaker and a sort of reverend/salesman. I say “reverend/ salesman” because I enjoy meeting new people and sharing information that can help them achieve or improve something. The money is always secondary for me. I need money to support my family, but I don’t need money to be the driver of my purpose in life. Maybe I am just a weird bird that is doomed to extinction, but I have finally learned who I am under all the labels placed on me by society.
Tribes gave me the opportunity to write and debate with hundreds of people on so many topics. This led me to some very powerful ideas for my Plan “B.” I have spent the past 11 months implementing the idea and so far it’s working!
The task is immense and I guess this is the kind of thing that keeps me focused as I can see it building and growing. However, I can’t do it alone. I may be the Reverend of Self Reliance, but that doesn’t mean I don’t also rely on other people.
In the near future, I will share more details with anyone interested, but I am not ready for this phase of the business yet. I will need mature adults with open minds that like to share ideas and help others just like me. The bonus is that Plan “B” also generates income (if you want to generate income).
